Sleep Well.
Be Well.
Dealing with TMD and sleep-related breathing disorders for most of her life, Dr. Hatahet understands the impact that chronic pain and poor sleep have on the quality of life every single day. After witnessing countless of her own dental patients (and family members!) also suffering from the same issues, Dr. Hatahet saw the need for a clinic devoted strictly to dental sleep and TMJ medicine in her local community. Dr. Hatahet and her team are here to help guide patients to the proper care they need, and hopefully, to some great sleep!

Obstructive Sleep Apnea
OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) is a condition where the upper airway collapses during sleep due to various reasons, causing full or partial constriction of the airway and lack of proper oxygen flow as the patient is unable to breathe (often witnessed as choking, gasping, or “stopping breathing”.) Depending on how many times such events happen throughout the night, a patient is typically diagnosed as mild, moderate, or severe via a home or in-lab sleep test. For mild to moderate cases, oral appliance therapy (OAT) provided by qualified dentists is a great alternative for CPAP non-compliant patients. OAT can also be used in combination with PAP therapy for those with severe diagnoses struggling with concurrent health issues.
Snoring Health Diagnosis
Snoring is a problem that many people live with, whether it’s an issue they personally experience or their bed partner and/or family experiences. The primary complaint most patients have and tend to “just deal with” is, in fact, snoring! This is not something we expect patients to “just deal with.” We are here to help discuss and diagnose the reason why you or your loved one is experiencing this issue, which may be due to an underlying health condition.
Temporomandibular Joint Disorder
TMD (temporomandibular joint disorder) is a general term used to describe conditions marked by periods of acute or chronic pain centered around the TMJs (left, right, or both sides,) which can occasionally involve the muscles of the face, head, neck, and shoulders. TMD issues can present as migraines (especially medication-resistant migraines), general headaches, or pain referred to the teeth, eyes, ears, and sinuses. Common issues patients will note with TMJ related issues are clicking, popping, or cracking of their jaw joints as well as a ringing or buzzing of the ears (tinnitus,) which can become worse with normal functioning of the lower jaw. Patients may also experience issues with having their lower jaw locking open or closed. Research has shown a high correlation between TMD and OSA and other sleep-related breathing disorders.
Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome
UARS (upper airway resistance syndrome) is a condition typically associated with younger females who experience restriction of the upper airway during sleep, without meeting the criteria for an OSA diagnosis. Such patients tend to get overlooked, but the symptoms that they experience impact quality of life (QOL) and can range from poor sleep quality, to fatigue, to mood disorders.
